One of our most popular dinners is Peppers and Sausage. Papa Joe Scalise started offering Calabrese nights at the club in the 1950s. We are offering both hot and mild sausage dinners. Don’t miss out on this wonderful Colombo Club tradition this month for $30 for 2 dinners. We will also be selling the ever popular Bordenave dinner rolls for $4 for 6.

Sitting here on a Sunday, finally feeling some rain bringing some relief to the fire dangers and basic dry ground around the house. At the same time, we hear of vaccines being delivered to many surrounding counties in the Bay Area, and maybe a light at the end of the tunnel for us all to get back to whatever normal, normal is going to be.
I can report that we at the Club have been working diligently over the past few weeks developing an opening plan to be submitted to the Alameda County Health Department for reopening of the Club, with restrictions, and we will comply. The plan has limited seating as we will not be able to have the number of members sitting downstairs as we have had in the past – for a minimum, we believe of six months. Decisions on how a member will be able to make a reservation and who will be able to attend, only members and/or member with a guest are in discussions as we speak. My main purpose of saying this is I hope all of you recognize the hard work that is taking place at the Club. Il mio scopo principale di dirlo è spero che tutti voi riconoscite il duro lavoro che si sta facendo nel club. It is different, but in the end, it will benefit all members in the next few months. I do want thank all the members for paying their dues, quite a few of the payments have been made online! Great job!! Voglio Ringraziare tutti i membri per aver pagato le loro quote, alcuni dei pagamenti sono stati online Ottimo lavoro !!

Christmas is here and that means cooking from dawn to dusk. My Father’s Mom, Noni Berkeley’s Gravy, My Mom’s Mom, Nona Jenn’s Pesto, Gnocchi, Raviolis, Chicken Cacciatore Polenta, large pots of Minestrone and Chicken broth just to name a few.   This is a great time of year to cook and teach all the family recipes to the kids and grandkids.  Funny, I already know that little Nicholas, 3 yrs old this month, will follow in the footsteps of the Nicoras cooking all the family recipes.  Nicholas will stand by me while cooking and when it is done, he will let people taste and say, “Good, Good.”  Nicholas sarà al mio fianco mentre cucini e quando sarà finito, la farà assaggiare e dirà Buono, Buono. The first word he learned.  It is sad that we are not going to be able to entertain all the kids at the Club and see Santa for our annual Christmas Party, but just think how special next year will be. 

I am sure 2021 is going to be a Great Year and will bring joy and happiness to everyone (Santa told me!) so why not start now.  Il 2021 sarà un grande anno e porterà gioia e felicità a tutti (Santa told me) quindi perché non iniziare ora.
